Accessibility

This site is built for autistic people and their families. We build it to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Every change is tested against that standard.

Last full audit: August 7, 2026, against the current design.

What we test automatically

Every change runs an automated accessibility check before it ships. If a check fails, the change does not go out.

Names, roles, labels, landmarks, contrast and heading order, across 14 pages. We use axe-core with the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 AA rule sets.
The whole site at 320 pixels wide, with increased text spacing forced on. Nothing may overflow or need sideways scrolling.
The skip link, the way past the search filters, and focus behind the sticky bars.
Every color pair, in all three color themes and both light and dark modes. Text must clear AA contrast and borders must clear 3:1.

What we checked by hand

Focus is always visible: a 3-pixel two-tone ring that also works in Windows high contrast mode.
Touch targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels. Buttons and filter labels are larger than that.
There is no animation. Motion is off for everyone, not only for people who ask their device to reduce it.
Form hints and errors are attached to their field. A screen reader reads them together with the field.
Result counts are announced when they change, so you do not have to look for what changed.
Sign-in uses an emailed link. There is no puzzle, no image test, and no timed step.
No form asks you for the same information twice. The spam-trap fields are hidden from screen readers, so you cannot fill one by accident.

The map, and why it is not keyboard reachable

The map pins cannot be reached by keyboard. That is a deliberate choice.

Every practice on the map is in the list above it, in the same order, fully reachable. The map is a second view of the same results. It is never the only route to a practice.

What we have not done yet

We have not yet done a full screen-reader pass with VoiceOver and NVDA on the search, profile and contact journey.

The automated checks are clean and the page structure reads correctly. Neither is the same as listening to someone use it. That test is planned for the beta.

We treat an accessibility problem as a bug, not a feature request. We will tell you what we found and when it is fixed.
